A Ghanaian citizen and resident of Cape Coast, Kwesi Dawood wants the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban S.K. Bagbin to probe alleged criminal conduct of the Members of Parliament for Assin Central and Awutu Senya East, Kennedy Agyapong and Mavis Hawa Koomson respectively.
According to Mr Dawood, "there is prima facie evidence showing specific unruly actions taken by the said Members of Parliament which are un-parliamentary, inimical to democracy, pose grave danger to life and property of citizens of Ghana as well as a threat to the peace and security of the State".
Mr Dawood has since sent the petition to the Speaker and wants the Speaker to probe the actions of the two MPs and sanction them as the "laws of Ghana and Parliament permit".
Unruly conduct
Detailing the unruly conduct of the MP's, Mr Dawood stated that Mr Agyapong without evidence accused some leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of burning 14 market stalls in a televised broadcast of television channel NET 2 in December 2020.
He added that the Assin Central MP also threatened to burn down the home of the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the same broadcast.
The petition also cites Ms Koomson for physically assaulting some persons at a polling station in the Awutu Senya East Constituency during the voter registration exercise.
“Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson and her thugs burnt down a motorbike belonging to one of those who had shown up to be registered,” the petition reads;
